Our Results

Over the last few decades, martial arts have evolved in training philosophies, methodologies, and techniques to distinguish which martial art methods work the best in real-world application for street self-defense and in mutual combat like the many combat sports.

At Absolute MMA, we've taken out the guesswork and provide you the opportunity to learn from our experience and provide you with cutting edge information and skills.

The result of serving our community for so many years is a new generation of well-rounded martial artists who not only challenge themselves physically and mentally, but who also have discovered the connection of the body, the mind, and the spirit.

Amazing gym! Best people (family) and instruction out there. I don't have enough wonderful things to say about Absolute MMA in Utah!

You're not going to find a better gym to learn self defense and how to be a ninja in the United States, let alone Utah. The staff are very capable and adapt very well to each and every learning style that has walked through the door. Kids get an excellent foundation in self defense. Adults get what they want out of classes, whether it's exercise, conditioning, learning self defense, building strength, confidence, self esteem, or just learning how to kick butt! The students there have a high level of respect for one another and help each other learn. New students are accepted with open arms and welcomed into the "Absolute Family". For real, it's a home away from home for me. I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure there are many others at Absolute that feel the same way. 5 stars all the way (six if it was possible).

If you're starting to shop around for a Martial Arts gym to enroll your kid in, I've done the legwork for you. I shopped around for a solid year while waiting for the opportunity in my personal schedule to get my son started. When it was time, I headed straight back to Absolute MMA.
I feel the instructors at absolute have the same balanced approach to the kids as the parents should have, meaning they are expected to listen when they're being taught, but at the same time there's a light atmosphere and the kids are having a great time. I visited a couple of gyms that seemed a little out of control and the structure wasn't as conducive to learning.

I'm 100% convinced this is the best Martial Arts gym for my son's development into a respectful and formidable athlete, as well as a good man.

Have any additional questions? Read through our FAQs!

  • Do I need MMA experience to train here?

No. We are a skill based learning facility. Our staff are trained professionals with experience in teaching these skill-sets to people with no experience.

  • If I train here do I need to become a fighter?

No. The majority of our team is comprised of people seeking fitness, weight loss, self defense, strength, agility, mental and physical stimulation and gerally just a form of recreation, exercise and fun!

  • Can I use this for self defense?

Yes! Our program stresses self defense as our primary concern. Both of our primary programs, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai, were originally developed as self defense systems.

  • What if I have experience in a different martial art?

Great! Your body mechanics, fitness, agility, and timing will directly translate into either Muay Thai or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. While the techniques may be different, previous physical training is always a bonus.

  • I've played other team sports, but not BJJ or Muay Thai. Is this for me?

Same answer as above. Great! Your body mechanics, fitness, agility, and timing will directly translate into either Muay Thai or Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. While the techniques may be different, previous physical training is always a bonus.

  • Can I lose weight doing BJJ and/or Muay Thai or any other type of MMA style??

Absoluteley! Many Absolute MMA team members have had phenominal sucess with weight loss as a result of their BJJ and Muay Thai training here. Many of them were/are members of a fitness center and saw little results before coming to Absolute MMA.

  • Is BJJ/Muay Thai for women?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is especially effective as a form of self defense for women. Many of our female members really enjoy the punching a kicking in our Muay Thai classes as well, as it does not require greater strength to be effective.

  • Is BJJ/Muay Thai for kids?

Indoubidably! Absolute MMA has a top-notch kids program. According to parents, some of the benefits children gain by training here include: increased self confidence, improved social interaction, bully awareness and improved concentration and focus. As well as phycial fitness, agility, strength and flexibility. Our kids program is based on self defense which enables children to survive both mentally and physically in our increasingly difficult school systems.

  • Is there an age limit for BJJ/Muay Thai?

Nope. Grand Master Flavio Behring, head of the Behring Jiu Jitsu system we teach at Absolute MMA is, himself, 74 years old. Our adult classes are comprised of members from the age of 12 and up. A number of our team mebers are over the age of 40.

  • What physical risks will I be exposed to?

Although we never anticipate an injury, unfortunately they do happen. The American College of Sports Medicine ranks Martial Arts training very high in regards to safety over many of our countries nationally recognized Sports. The Martial Arts are practiced in hundreds of countries and millions of people.

  • I have a hard time focusing and understanding sometimes. Will I be holding the class back?

Absolutely not! We welcome and encourage everyone to express themselves openly. It is our belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to learn at his or her own capacity. You will learn to adapt and overcome any reservations you may have.

  • I am not very flexible or coordinated, will this affect my training?

Our program is fully functional for everybody. We take a unique approach to preparing you for your training. Your flexibility and coordination will immediately increase as the result of your training. Your longevity as a Martial Artist will be determined by your ability to increase your quality of life.

  • I don't want to train with a bunch of thugs in a "fight club", What can I expect at Absolute MMA?

Truth is we have people from all walks of life. We have doctors, lawyers, dentists and accountants; software engineers, CEO's, small business owners, stock brokers and real estate agents; plumbers, carpenters, painters and laborers; military personnel, federal and state employees, mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters; real people just like you.

  • I don't have a lot of time to train. I'm really busy and I need to now my time is being well spent.

We understand your time is valuable, we feel the same about ours. Just know that all of our classes are well organized and structured. All you have to do is show up and let us take care of the rest.
